Welcome Message from AMCF’s Chairman

“The key topics most requested were risk assessment and transfer in wreck removal (WR) contracts, proposed changes to salvage and WR contracts, global progress on ports of refuge, bribery and corruption, container ship casualties and their causes and wrecks and the marine environment. ”

It is with great pleasure that I introduce the third edition of the Asian Marine Casualty Forum (AMCF). Those who attended the first two editions will, I am sure, agree with me that they were a resounding success. The topics were well chosen, and we had first-class specialist speakers from across the industry. Over 350 delegates attended in 2017.

This year, we focus on casualties in the 21st century and how the industry is coping. The opening presentation will set the scene in this regard. First though, an explanation as to how the two-day agenda was developed.

As with previous AMCFs, the organising committee sought consultation from various stakeholders including the International Group of P&I Clubs (IG), International Salvage Union (ISU), salvage contractors, consultants, underwriters, maritime authorities and our sponsors. As before, the aim was to create a forum agenda with key topics of concern to our stakeholders.

Thus, the agenda has been developed around these topics together with relevant and most interesting case studies presented on both days. These will address oil removal using ROVs in near zero temperature, reef damage, salvage and pollution, distressed cargoes and management of the consequences of major casualties and the various stakeholders and an authority’s journey during and following a dramatic casualty. There will also be a presentation on drones and their use in casualty work with, hopefully, some in-flight entertainment!

Seats are limited so book your place today!

The 3rd AMCF looks set to be even better than the first two. Take advantage of this unique free-of-charge experience to listen, learn and debate with global industry leaders. The industry has, once again, come to the fore!

I hope to see you in Singapore on 11 and 12 April 2019 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre!
